Special Interest Groups

The Forest Edge Music Festival is just one example of how flexible the Forest Edge campsite can be.  Whereas other campsites are often only interested in the standard school and church camps, Forest Edge is here to help make your vision a reality.  Following are some examples of different types of camps and functions that Forest Edge can accommodate.

Large Festivals

The ACAN Forest Edge Music Festival is a great example of a large festival with many options for accommodation.  Your group could offer accommodation from the ensuited Latrobe Lodges, to the McKerlie Creek Cabins, down to people pitching their own tents.  This could allow for several hundred people attending the festival or conference.  With a variety of meeting venues, from the Pavilion, the new Dining Room, Gym and the Latrobe meeting/conference rooms, there is the flexibility for many sessions or workshops running at the same time.

4WD or Motorbike Groups

Forest Edge is a great starting point for many tours through the scenic Latrobe Valley.  Set out for a day touring, with the knowledge that you have a warm bed and home-cooked meal to return to at the end of the day.  This also gives great flexibility for those less adventurous to stay and relax on site whilst others are out on the roads.

Camping Organisations

Although we run our own Holiday Camps during each school holidays, there are some weeks in which we don’t have a camp running, and plenty of weekends throughout the year.  If you run camps for children or youth, but don’t have a campsite to call home, we’d be excited to partner with you in making Forest Edge an annual location on your camping calendar.

Sporting Groups

With the large oval and playing fields, the indoor gym facilities, and challenge and team building activities, Forest Edge is perfect for sporting groups.  Whether it is a pre-season training camp, or simply a weekend away, we’d love to work with you in making your camp a success.

Theatre, Drama and Arts Groups

It’s great to get away from it all, and the peaceful surrounds of Forest Edge allow you to relax and get in touch with the creative.

Craft Groups

There’s just something about Forest Edge that lends itself to craft groups.  Perhaps it’s the relaxed atmosphere that allows you to spend time on your creation.  Maybe it’s the inspiration of nature, with beautiful scenes in every direction. Or it could be the chance to sit in the comfortable new Dining Room, looking out at the forest, having a cuppa with friends.

Bushwalking Groups

With two great walking tracks starting from the site, as well as access to the many trails and sights around Mount Baw Baw, Forest Edge has an instant attraction for those who like to see the beauty of our natural surrounds close up.  Tracks range in difficulty from easy to advanced, to ensure that there’s something for everyone. In fact, if you’re part of a bushwalking group, the only question left will be, is one weekend enough?  For something extra special, book two weekends in different seasons.

Snow Trips

Forest Edge provides group accommodation for those hitting the snow.  Just a short drive away from the slopes, it can be a much more economical option than staying on the mountain.



Community Groups

Perhaps the comments we hear most about Forest Edge are, “beauty”, “relaxation”, “getting away from it all”.  If you’re looking for a weekend away for a community group, in the beauty of nature, but still with all the “mod cons” such as ensuited rooms, home-cooked meals and climate controlled meeting areas, then why not give us a call.

Overseas Tourism

For an experience of the “Aussie bush”, without sacrificing comfort, Forest Edge is a great location for overseas tourists, both in itself, and as a starting point to visit the local attractions. We believe it is the best location for a large overseas group to stay if interested in visiting the snowfields, nature walks, or the local gourmet food localities.  We can even provide a linen service for groups if requested*.
